How long have you been racing?
Since I was 13, although I did take a couple years off.
How often do you race?
As much as my money allows me.
Other than our track, what are your favorite BMX tracks? Why?
Evansville, Indiana’s outdoor track because it’s wicked fast. Springfield, Illinois’s track is real
smooth.
How did you become interested in racing BMX bikes?
I’ve been riding bikes since I was three, but got my start by racing dirt bikes. I always wanted
to race BMX and started when the track was built (2001).
What about the sport has kept you interested and made you want to continue to race BMX bikes?
I just love being on my bike.
What parts of racing comes naturally to you? What do you feel you need to work on?
Jumping comes naturally. I need to work on getting faster and smoother.
What other sports or activities do you participate in? Do these sports or activities help you with
your racing? How?
I have a full time job, so I don’t have much time to participate in other sports or activities
outside of BMX.
What are your accomplishments so far in BMX racing?
When I was 14 Rookie, I won 1st in State, 1st in Regional and 2nd in National. When I was 15
Novice, I was 1st in State, 1st in Regional, 1st in National and 8th in the cruiser class National.
I’ve also won 1st in 19 Expert and 20 Expert class of the Iowa Games.
What are your short-term and long-term goals in BMX?
Short-term – Win State, place top 10 in Regional & National. Long-term – Eventually win
another National championship.
What do your friends and kids at school think about your racing BMX bikes?
They think it’s alright. Some of them like to ride.
Who are people you look up to and why?
I look up to the BMX parents that allow their kids to pursue their dreams. Now that I’m older, I can
appreciate the fact that these parents are devoting all their time to their kids and taking them across
the country to race.
