How long have you been racing?

      First BMX race was in 1979.

 

How often do you race?

      Every chance I get, but usually once a week.

 

Other than our track, what are your favorite BMX tracks? Why?

      The old Quincy, Illinois track located in Boots Bush Park (closed in 1992). It had a 20-foot starting hill going to two sets of doubles.

 

How did you become interested in racing BMX bikes?

      Watching Evel Kneivel jump cars.

 

What about the sport has kept you interested and made you want to continue to race BMX bikes?

      The people involved in the sport.

 

What parts of racing comes naturally to you? What do you feel you need to work on?

      Balance and cornering comes naturally. I need to work on jumping.

 

What other sports or activities do you participate in? Do these sports or activities help you with your racing? How?

      Golf and motorcycle riding.

 

What are your accomplishments so far in BMX racing?

      1983 and 1984 State Champion.

 

What are your short-term and long-term goals in BMX?

      Short term is to bring more riders into the sport. Long term is to build five more

      tracks in the state for riders.

 

What do your friends and kids at school think about your racing BMX bikes?

      For me it’s work. They have fun with it, but I’ve got a co-worker thinking about

      starting to race again.

 

Who are people you look up to and why?

      My wife in life because she lets me dream. Bob “the Hurricane” Hannah who is the

      Absolute best rider on two wheels I’ve ever seen. All the old school pros who made

      BMX what it is today, and the newer pros like Donny Robinson.
